My name is Carl Ramon Olson. I’m an officer in the Wisconsin National Guard. I started this blog in 2010, shortly after the birth of my first child. My life until that point was whatever I wanted it to be. But then I was holding that tiny bundle in my arms and I realized, “It isn’t about me anymore.”
1 Corinthians 13:11 — When I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child. But when I grew up, I put away childish things (NLT).
To that end, this blog serves several purposes:
- It’s a place for me to muse about the meaning of life, the universe and everything;
- It’s a focal point for my writing;
- It forces me to stick to a schedule;
- It’s a place where my experiences as a father can be shared with the world.
Viewers of this blog can expect the following:
- That I write often–my current goal is to publish once a week, every Friday afternoon;
- That I will write about my life, to include my thoughts about being a father;
- That I will write about subjects that interest me;
- That everything I write and post will be related to my thesis: I write to improve myself and therefore my ability to care for my family.
I am not writing this blog to entertain others. I want people to read it but I have no delusions concerning my success in that endeavor. If you like what I’ve written, or if you disagree with me, please comment and tell me what you think. I want to open up discussions about all sorts of things. I will treat all comments with the same respect but please be warned: I’ve dealt with assholes on the internet and I will not tolerate inappropriate or rude behavior.
